Q: Who pays for hospice? Does Medicare pay for hospice?
A: Hospice payment varies with every patient. Depending on your insurance and the type of hospice care you need will determine who pays for hospice.

Q: Where does hospice care take place?
A: Whenever possible, we aim to provide hospice care in the home where patients and their loved ones are most comfortable.
There are instances where inpatient care may be necessary. Our inpatient provides 24-hour care by a supervising nurse and caring medical staff. Learn more about our approach to hospice care.
We provide care wherever you call home, including group homes, assisted living facilities, independent living facilities and skilled nursing facilities.
Q: When is it right for my loved one to begin hospice care?
A: The decision to begin hospice care depends on the condition of the patient. Hospice care usually begins when the patient has a condition that is life-limiting with a prognosis of 6 months or less, however, hospice care is continuous as long as the patient meets the clinical criteria. We believe in a collaborative approach to hospice care and involve the patient, loved ones and care team in the decision-making process.

Q: What’s the difference between home health care and hospice?
A: Hospice is end of life care while home care is generally treatment or recovery care, such as support for nutrition or diabetes. While hospice care is done at your home whenever possible, it is not the same as Banner Home Care.
