Banner Sports Medicine offering enhanced sports physicals for student-athletes

Participants will receive a functional movement test, the same evaluation as professional athletes

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., (July 11, 2024) – Banner Sports Medicine Scottsdale is offering a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be evaluated like a pro. On July 20, athletes will receive an annual sports physical and a human movement test in Banner Sports Medicine’s High Performance Center to best customize their training

Annual physicals are crucial because it allows medical specialists to evaluate any possible conditions or injuries that can become worse and interfere with activity in their sport,” said Erica Illium, manager of Banner Sports Medicine. “We wanted to take that a step further and show athletes not only a benchmark of their physical health, but also show them how exactly they can improve in various aspects of their game as fall sports seasons get underway.”

Banner Sports Medicine’s comprehensive staff will utilize state-of-the-art biomechanics technology throughout the test to understand key indicators of one’s movement and performance. Athletes will walk away with a personalized corrective exercise program, designed to help prevent injury and enhance their game.

The human movement test will evaluate one’s mobility, stability and functional control,” said Tyler Wallace, director of the High Performance Center. “This allows our team to understand important details and to make the most personalized recommendations to each athlete on exercises to address muscle imbalances that, when corrected, help to prevent injury and increase performance capacity.”

The full experience takes about 30 minutes and will cost $15. Only cash payment is accepted.

Registration is recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. Appointments are available on July 20 from 7:15 to 11:15 a.m., and you can register your athlete for an appointment here. Please print and bring all required documents with you to your appointment, which are attached on the registration webpage.
