Jean Fitterer Lance was appointed Banner’s Health’s Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel in June 2022, with responsibility for overseeing the company’s legal affairs and government affairs. She joined Banner in 2019 as Vice President, Legal Services and Deputy General Counsel. In her previous role with Banner, she was instrumental in supporting service line growth and relationships, working with Banner’s innovation and strategy teams on equity investments and acquiring cutting-edge platforms and providing guidance on pandemic-related issues.
Before coming to Banner, Jean held a variety of leadership roles, including 21 years at Boston Scientific Corporation, where she served as vice president and general counsel of its cardiovascular division; its senior vice president and global chief compliance officer; as well as senior vice president and assistant general counsel for its worldwide businesses. She previously practiced with the national law firm of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal (now Dentons) in Chicago, Illinois, specializing in corporate and health law.
Jean earned a law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School. She received a B.S. in Accounting from Minnesota State University – Mankato, and she is a Certified Public Accountant.
She has served as President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Minnesota State University – Mankato Foundation and as President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Boston Scientific Foundation.
