Oct. 1, 2015 is the new implementation date for ICD-10.
A successful ICD-10 conversion is critical to Banner because without it, payments from providers could be interrupted. ICD-10, which offers more robust coding language, also will make it easier for providers to communicate with payers and other entities.
All Banner departments will be directly or indirectly affected by this federally required transition.
The number of diagnosis codes expands from 14,000 to 68,000 and procedure codes increases from 4,000 to nearly 87,000.
