The Community Pharmacy PGY1 residency program allows recently graduated pharmacists to learn about specialty pharmacy and work in this unique, specialized area of ambulatory care pharmacy. The residency offers innumerable opportunities to work as an independent practitioner alongside other members of the health care team to optimize patient care and health outcomes, ensure patient safety, and minimize unnecessary health care spending. Residents who successfully complete this PGY1 pharmacy residency should possess competencies that qualify them for clinical pharmacist and/or faculty positions and eligibility to attain nationally recognized certified specialty pharmacy (CSP) certification. Pharmacy residents advance their knowledge and skills to become competent clinical practitioners through both block and longitudinal experiences.
