The PGY 2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency is based at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson and is designed to train selected, highly motivated and highly qualified pharmacists so they are prepared for an infectious diseases position in an acute care facility and/or an advanced fellowship in an area of infectious diseases or research. The Infectious Diseases resident will have clinical, teaching, and research responsibilities. The primary responsibility will be monitoring drug therapy during required and elective learning experiences. This includes rounding with multidisciplinary teams, providing drug therapy recommendations during rounding activities, completing written progress notes in the electronic medical record and providing formal consultations. Academic and research opportunities include assisting in training pharmacy students during clerkship rotations, participating in research projects, small group case facilitation, active and interactive presentations to pharmacy students and fellow pharmacists, and protocol development.
