About Us

Women who have an abnormal mammogram or find a breast lump upon examination are encouraged to make an appointment at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center Undiagnosed Breast Clinic at Banner Gateway Medical Center*. Patients may self-refer or be referred by their physicians.

How does the Undiagnosed Breast Clinic work?

Patients are scheduled for appointments with a breast health provider at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. If additional diagnostic breast imaging and/or biopsies are indicated, the breast health provider will expedite these tests with our breast radiologist specialists. If these tests diagnose cancer, the breast health provider will facilitate consultations with our Banner MD Anderson breast cancer experts.

What if the diagnosis is Breast Cancer?

For patients with a cancer diagnosis, an appointment with our breast cancer team is arranged. This can include a breast surgeon, medical oncologist and radiation oncologist, along with support staff. Our breast cancer team works together to create an individual treatment plan for each patient.

Appointments are in the same location at the cancer center for your convenience. Many of our physicians only treat breast cancer, and are experts in the treatment of all types of breast cancer. Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center provides a wide range of treatment options based on a woman’s individual diagnosis and personal needs.

What if the diagnosis is not cancer?

Abnormal mammograms do not always mean breast cancer. If testing does not show breast cancer, ongoing monitoring may be recommended. Some women may require future evaluation and others can return to their primary care physicians for annual screenings.
