If you are a patient at Banner – University Medical Center South and need a higher level of care due to a severe illness, injury or major surgery, you may be placed in the intensive care unit (ICU).
The ICU is different from other hospital units because it features advanced equipment and has a higher staff-to-patient ratio. This means you are closely observed, monitored and treated by specially trained staff, 24 hours a day.
