PHOENIX (Aug. 12, 2021) – Deanna Wise, Banner Health senior vice president and chief information officer, has been recognized as one of the 11 global recipients of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Changemaker in Health Award.
The award, the first of its kind, is determined by a public vote, making it a unique representation of the voices of the health care industry. The award recognizes inspiring senior healthcare executives who rigorously challenge the status quo to improve health care.
“I am honored to accept this on behalf of our skilled and dedicated Banner team. Over the past year, I have been reminded daily of the talented and forward-thinking individuals that I have the privilege of working to make health care better,’’ Wise said.

Wise was recently recognized during the 2021 HIMSS Global Conference & Exhibition.
In recognizing Wise and her work at Banner, HIMSS cited the successful implementation of Workday and development of a data strategy and supporting governance while also the IT team also worked to improve overall IT service delivery.
Led by Wise, Banner is implementing an industry-leading population health tool, Innovaccer, to better coordinate operations between Banner’s insurance division and its clinical-delivery system.
In addition, Banner IT last year conducted a rapid rollout of an acute and ambulatory telehealth platform to meet the needs of COVID-19 care as well as introduced consumer-facing bots to improve the patient experience; strengthened cybersecurity standards and modernized key core systems such as revenue cycle, human resources, data management.
