QUEEN CREEK (June 24, 2024) Banner Ironwood Medical Center hosts Camp Scrubs, a unique week-long program designed to inspire students to pursue a career within healthcare. The program, now in its third year, is a collaboration with the J.O. Combs Unified School District, Combs Middle School, and other local districts and open to area middle school students.

Participants learn first-aid training and certification on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), shadow medical teams as an introduction to wound care, orthopedics, medical imaging, surgical procedures, pharmacy, and meet with the BannerAir team— a hospital-based air critical and lifesaving medical transport program.

Christina Stone, Camp Scrubs director, expressed her enthusiasm for the impact of Banner Ironwood's continuous partnership with local schools on inspiring and educating youth. "The Camp Scrubs program serves as a crucial platform for introducing young minds to the world of healthcare. By providing unique experiences and knowledge, we strive to ignite a passion for nursing and healthcare careers among these students," said Stone.
