TUCSON (Oct. 24, 2023) - Banner – University Health Plans (BUHP) is proud to announce the addition of three distinguished members to its board of directors: Dr. Shar Najafi-Piper, CEO, COPA Health; Aaron Sinykin, CEO, Devoted Guardians; and Dr. Anne Mathias, Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona (UA) College of Medicine. The BUHP Board of Directors oversees Banner – University Family Care/AHCCS Complete Care (ACC), Banner-University Family Care/Arizona Long-Term Care System (ALTCS), and a Dual-Special Needs Plan (D-SNP), Banner Medicare Advantage Dual.
Dr. Najafi-Piper has been a licensed psychologist and clinical executive for the past 17 years and is the chief executive officer of COPA Health, which offers educational, therapeutic, rehabilitative and social services to children and adults with developmental, physical and behavioral health challenges. She brings a wealth of practical knowledge and experience to our board.
Aaron Sinykin is an innovative leader and is the chief executive officer of Devoted Guardians, an in-home care provider of comprehensive home support services helping seniors and disabled individuals who need assistance with daily living. Sinykin is known for his innovative approach to workforce development and his experience serving the elderly/physically disabled population makes him a terrific addition to our board.
Dr. Mathias is a community provider with broad experience providing psychiatric care that includes: personality disorders, psychotic disorders, sleep disorders, anxiety/depressive disorders, cognitive impairment both at birth and acquired, complex neurological disorders, and autoimmune disorders. Her collaborative approach to medicine makes her a great partner for Banner-University Family Care.
As a community-based, safety-net health plan, having these new members on the Banner – University Health Plans Board of Directors solidifies our commitment to the communities we serve. We are proud to welcome these executives to our board.
