PHOENIX (Nov. 25, 2024) - Banner Estrella Medical Center today began a major construction project to expand and enhance its services in the west Phoenix area. Construction began today to add 36 licensed beds, with the new spaces expected to open to the public by June 2026.
The $37 million expansion project includes building out additional space in the operating room and expanding the women and infant service areas. This investment aims to increase the bed capacity to support planned incremental and organic growth and position the campus to align with Banner's plans in the southwest part of the Phoenix area.
"We are excited to embark on this significant expansion project that will allow us to better serve our community and meet the growing healthcare needs in the region," said Courtney Ophaug, chief executive officer at Banner Estrella Medical Center.
The architectural design for the expansion is being led by Cuningham, with engineering support from Affiliated Engineers and general contracting services provided by Kitchell.
