New Year's joy: Baby born 18 minutes after midnight at Banner Desert Medical Center

MESA, Ariz. (Jan. 1, 2025) - The new year started with a bundle of joy as proud parents welcomed a newborn baby just minutes after midnight.

 

Patricia Ramos gave birth to a healthy 6-pound, 6-ounce baby boy, Jose Leobardo Alvarado Ramos, at 12:18 a.m. Wednesday at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa.

 

The excitement and happiness felt by parents Patricia Ramos and Pedro Alvarado was tremendous as they embraced the arrival of their precious little one at the beginning of a new year. The mother expressed her gratitude to the dedicated medical team at Banner Desert for its exceptional care and support throughout the birth.

 

“I feel very blessed for becoming a mom for a second time, Jose Leobardo has a little brother waiting for him at home,” Ramos said. “I wish everyone a fabulous year.”

 

"Welcoming a baby into the world is always a privilege, but to do so as the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Day fills us all with immense joy and hope,” said Barbara Edwards, nurse director at Banner Desert. “We are honored to be part of such a memorable experience for this family."

 

The entire staff at Banner Desert joins in celebrating this heartwarming start to 2025 and wishes the new parents and their baby health, happiness and endless blessings in the days ahead.

 

The new year started with other New Year’s babies at Banner hospitals. In southern Arizona, among them was a baby born in the first hour of the year.

 

Ozmayra Zambrano gave birth to a healthy 8-pound, 11-ounce boy, Eduardo Cordero IV, at 12:43 a.m. at Banner University Medical Center Tucson.

 

Zambrano and Eduardo Cordero III, parents of Eduardo Cordero IV, were so gracious as they embraced the arrival of their new son.

 

“You guys did an amazing job in delivering baby Eddie ‘the Fourth’ into this world. We greatly appreciate all the hard work and kindness at Banner University Medical Center Tucson,” said father Eduardo Cordero. “Thanks again and Happy New Year.”

 

In northern Colorado, the new year started with births of baby girls.

 

Rebeca Raquel Garcia was born to parents Brenda Hilda Seraplo and Gustavo Garcia at 12:06 a.m. at East Morgan County Hospital in Brush, Colo.

 

And, at Banner’s facility in Greeley, Bernadette Threvenin gave birth to a healthy 6-pound, 1-ounce girl, who measured in at 19.5 inches long. Sthassa was born at 3:38 a.m. on Wednesday at Banner North Colorado Medical Center.
