Platte County Memorial Hospital awarded $32,600 through COVID-19 Health Disparity Grant

WHEATLAND, WY (October 11, 2023) – Platte County Memorial Hospital has been awarded $32,600 from the Addressing Basic Needs and Social Determinants of Health Program Grant Program, which is part of the COVID-19 Health Disparity Grant Program.

Wyoming has dedicated $8.1 million of federal funding to help eligible entities build up the health care infrastructure and address historical inequities in their communities. The funding is part of Wyoming’s $38.8 million allocation from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for its COVID-19 Health Disparities Grant. The Align Team manages this portion of the COVID-19 Health Disparities Grant for the Wyoming Department of Health.

With this generation funding, Platte County Memorial Hospital offer a 12-month health educational series consisting of paid public service announcements (newspaper ads, ads in local theaters, and spots on local radio stations) about recommended health screenings and where to access services on topics including women's health, breast cancer screening, prostate cancer screening, lung cancer screening, cardiovascular health/blood pressure screening, diabetes screening, bone and joint health, routine wellness labs, influenza vaccination, occupational safety/ergonomics, and concussion services thereby promoting and marketing available services and support in the community. he topics in the series directly tie to the themes, leading causes of death, and the identified health behaviors and clinical care needs in Platte County. Platte County Memorial Hospital has provided medical excellence to the residents of Platte County since 1955.
