Each rotation will have a clinical and didactic component with over 2000 mentored hours of direct patient care. While BMDACC is focused on cancer care, the fellow will also gain exposure to a limited number of non-oncologic cases as well.
Core rotations include breast, colorectal, hepatopancreatobiliary, skin & soft tissue, head & neck, urologic, gynecologic, thoracic and complex reconstructive surgery. The last 8 weeks of the program will culminate in a subspecialty area of the fellows choosing to allow them to continue to refine their knowledge in their area of interest.
In addition, fellows will gain to rotating through the core surgical oncology specialties, additional exposure to other clinical specialties including medical oncology, psycho-oncology, radiation oncology, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, interventional radiology, integrative medicine and nutrition.
