The PGY1 pharmacy residency program at Banner North Colorado Medical Center (NCMC) has been developed and designed to provide fundamental knowledge and skills. The purpose of the program is to build on Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, and eligibility for board certification and postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
The year will focus on establishing a core skill set in clinical practice and pharmacy operations leadership. The program supports development of these core skills by focusing on drug information and literature evaluation, pharmacotherapy evaluation and management, team functioning, presentation development and delivery, direct patient and provider interaction, and decision making and justification.
