Banner - University Medical Center Tucson is a 650-bed, academic teaching hospital in Southern Arizona and serves as the flagship teaching facility for The University of Arizona Health Sciences campuses, which include the colleges of medicine, pharmacy, nursing, and public health. BUMCT is a designated Level 1 Adult Trauma Center and Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, as well as a comprehensive cancer and cardiac center, with the emergency department seeing approximately 73,000 patients a year. It includes unique specialty units such as pediatrics, solid organ transplant, cardiology, neurology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant, among others. Also located on the campus is Diamond Children's - recognized for its specialized pediatric services including neonatal and intensive care, emergency medicine and cancer therapies. BUMCT is ranked as the #1 hospital in Tucson and #3 hospital in Arizona in the prestigious Best Hospitals ranking by U.S. News & World Report.

Additionally, BUMCT was the first Joint Commission certified Primary and Comprehensive Stroke Center in Southern Arizona and has been designated as achieving Magnet status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

The Department of Pharmacy provides 24-hour services, supported by over 100 full-time pharmacy personnel including 60 pharmacists. Decentralized pharmacy staff are located in the emergency department, intensive care, pediatrics, transplant, oncology, and adult medical/surgical units.
