The PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson/University of Arizona Cancer Center is a 12-month program for residents with an interest in oncology, hematology, stem cell transplant, and investigational drug research. The program was established in 2017 and is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
The PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency builds upon the foundations of practice acquired during Doctor of Pharmacy education and the PGY1 pharmacy residency to provide a well-rounded experience in acute and ambulatory medical oncology, hematology, and stem cell transplant. The University of Arizona Cancer Center is the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center headquartered in the state of Arizona, where bringing promising new therapies from the laboratory to the bedside is a high priority. The PGY2 oncology resident will serve as a fully integrated member of multidisciplinary teams involved in the therapeutic decision-making process and optimizing clinical outcomes for patients with cancer. In addition, the resident will be exposed to a broad spectrum of new diagnostic, prevention and treatment strategies, and gain experiences in clinical research, quality improvement, teaching, and precepting. The residency is designed to prepare the resident for future clinical, research, or academic positions, and board certification in oncology pharmacy.
