Banner – University Medical Center Tucson (BUMCT) is a private, non-profit, 625- bed acute-care teaching hospital located on the University of Arizona Health Sciences (UAHS) center campus, which includes the university’s colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Public Health. It is one of only two Level 1 Trauma Centers in southern Arizona, and houses the area’s only dedicated children’s hospital, Banner Children’s at Diamond Children’s Medical Center. BUMCT’s intensive care services include medical, surgical, cardiothoracic, pediatric, and neonatal units. Specialized programs include solid organ transplantation, bone marrow transplantation, inpatient and outpatient oncology, pediatrics, and a variety of ambulatory clinics.
The University of Arizona Cancer Center is one of 56 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the nation and the only one headquartered in and serving the entire state of Arizona. NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers are recognized for their scientific leadership, resources, and an added depth and breadth of research in basic, clinical, and/or prevention, cancer control, and population sciences, as well as substantial trans disciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas.
The University of Arizona Cancer Center has three established scientific Research Programs that work together to accomplish the Center’s mission to prevent and cure cancer: Cancer Biology, Cancer Prevention & Control, and Clinical and Translational Oncology. The UACC is home to one of the largest Cancer Prevention and Control Programs among the nation’s Comprehensive Cancer Centers, with leading prevention research in breast, colon, lung, prostate, and skin cancers.
The primary site for outpatient cancer services is located at The University of Arizona Cancer Center on North Campus, an 82,000- square-foot location for multidisciplinary patient-care teams including internationally-renowned medical, hematological, radiation and surgical oncologists as well as nurse practitioners, nurse coordinators, research specialists, psychiatrists, social workers, patient advocates, nutritionists, pharmacists and genetic counselors. The UACC- Orange Grove Campus is a 28,700-square-foot community outpatient clinic in Northwest Tucson that offers services provided by multidisciplinary teams and supportive resources specializing in medical oncology, surgical oncology and research.
