Welcome to Banner Children’s at Thunderbird. Serving West Valley pediatric patients for over 20 years, Banner Children’s at Thunderbird is prepared and ready to put your mind at ease as we care for your children. We provide comprehensive, family centered pediatric care for children. Those with special needs may continue care with our pediatric specialists beyond 18 years of age as needed for continuity of care. Our specially trained providers, nurses, technicians and support staff work together as an interdisciplinary team to care for our patients in an age appropriate manner.

Patients and Visitors

Dining

All visitors and guests are welcome to dine in our 5555 Café, located on the Lower Level under main entrance, or at Café Ole, our coffee shop. Both are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Brew Bots robotic coffee machine is also available in our in main lobby and is open 24/7 making barista style drinks.

ATM

The hospital houses one automatic teller machine located near the cafeteria.

Laundry

Laundry machines are available in the PICU and NICU.

Hospital School

Hospital School at Banner Children's at Thunderbird brings the classroom to the hospital.

In Unit Play Rooms

Playrooms act as safe zones where kids can be kids and get away from medical procedures. There is also a teen room located on LLB for the older kids.

Outdoor Play Area

Outdoor play area located between LLB and LLC offers a chance for patients and their families to get outside and enjoy the fresh air while remaining close to the pediatric units. The covered area offers seating, play equipment, and games to help families relax outside.

Child Friendly Family Lounges - Courage Corner

Our courage corner family lounge offers patients and their families a fun, comic book based area to get away from their room and gather with visitors.

Family washrooms

Family washrooms are located outside of the PICU for parents to use for showers.

Gift Shop

Our gift shop is located by the main entrance and has just what you need, learn more.

Visitor Restrictions

Visitation hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Learn about the other restrictions currently in place.

About Us

Banner Children’s at Thunderbird provides comprehensive pediatric care. We have nursing and multi-disciplinary pediatric specialists in a variety of departments including:

A Pediatric Emergency Zone with 15 bays and separate waiting room/play area
A Pediatric inpatient unit with 40 private rooms
A Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with 17 private rooms
A 36 bed Neonatal Intensive care Unit.
A 12 bed pediatric inpatient behavioral health unit.
The BCT Pediatric Blood and Cancer Center outpatient clinic
A Pediatric infusion center

Our hospital is staffed 24/7 with onsite pediatric and neonatal intensivists and pediatric hospitalists. We also offer specialty-care from a variety of of over 15 pediatric specialists.

Our space is designed with children in mind. The Emergency Department has a separate waiting area and treatment zone for pediatric patients. We have safe play areas including play rooms, Courage Corner, and an outdoor garden and covered play space. Banner Children’s at Thunderbird offers 7 day a week Child Life coverage to help your child feel safe and comfortable while in the hospital. Our on-site school teacher aides in maintaining communication and alignment with your child’s school while they are in the hospital.
