Higher Level of Care for Children

Banner – University Family Care/ACC (B – UFC/ACC) works with members and guardians to make sure each person receives the services they need. Sometimes a member need services outside of their home. This decision is made by the Child and Family Team.

  • B – UFC/ACC has to approve these services.
  • The Behavioral Health provider sends the paperwork to B – UFC/ACC.
  • B – UFC/ACC has to approve Assessment Intervention Center, Brief Intervention Programs, Therapeutic Foster Care, Behavioral Health Residential Facilities and Behavioral Health Inpatient Facilities.
  • If the member is not connected to a Behavioral Health provider, the guardian can call our Customer Care Center for a referral.
  • Inpatient psychiatric admissions do not require prior authorization for admission.

Out-of-State Facilities for Children

  • B – UFC/ACC may approve an out-of-state facility if no in-state providers are able to meet the needs of the member.
  • If you have questions about higher levels of care or out of state facilities, call our Customer Care Center.
