The Suspicion of Cancer Program is offered at all Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center locations to assist you when a primary care physician suspects cancer or identifies something out of the ordinary.
At Banner MD Anderson, the Suspicion of Cancer Program is for patients who have a symptom or finding that is of concern for cancer. Their primary care physician will need to write a referral for the patient to continue onto the Suspicion of Cancer Program.
Some of the findings that patients may have include breast masses, lung nodules, unexplained weight loss, unexplained changes in blood counts, abdominal masses, unexplained jaundice and more.
Once patients have received their diagnosis from their primary care physician, the next steps in the process will be dependent on if they have cancer. The team at Banner MD Anderson will examine and assess if it is cancer with diagnostic testing. If cancer, Banner MD Anderson will streamline the process to an oncologist. If not, we help with referral to the appropriate specialist or transition care back to the primary care physician.
