A stay in the hospital can be an overwhelming experience for children and their families, and Banner Children’s tries to provide sick kids with as much normalcy as possible. One big consideration, especially for longer stays, is that a kid’s need for learning and creativity does not stop while they’re in the hospital. Our Banner Children's Hospital School program helps by bringing the classroom to the hospital itself. We have our very own staff of experienced teachers who offer on-site classroom or bedside teaching to help kids keep up with their studies while they are in the hospital.
The goal of the hospital school program is to provide children with individualized educational support to prevent them from falling behind academically. We assist with a seamless re-entry to their school when they are medically ready to return.
Children can face a variety of challenges if their education is interrupted including being held back a grade, losing scholarship opportunities and even being asked to leave a school. The Banner Children’s Hospital School program helps to avoid these pitfalls while allowing kids to focus on what is important - getting better.
