The "P.A.W.S." with Dogs (Providing Additional Wellness Services with Dogs) program at Banner Casa Grande Medical Center was established in March 2005 with our first therapy dog, Makenzi Fogelberg. Makenzi's family, Jacqui and Weymouth Fogelberg, were instrumental in piloting this valuable program at Banner Casa Grande in order to provide patients with a visit from a special animal. Makenzi was a special dog who had a wonderfully calm demeanor around patients and a special way of bringing them joy even in the midst of pain or sadness. Makenzi's legacy is that the "P.A.W.S." visitation program continues today with a dozen dog teams who brighten patients' lives each week in the hospital.
Donations to The Makenzi Fund are used to purchase supplies for the "P.A.W.S." with Dogs program at CGRMC, including equipment, patient photos and supplies. Donations may be sent to Casa Grande Community Hospital Foundation, The Makenzi Fund, 1800 E. Florence Blvd., Casa Grande, AZ, 85122. Thank you for your support!
